The station is characterised to be interpreted not simply as place of transit, but as space of stay and attraction both for the users and the inhabitants of the neighbourhood. Designed as a pedestrian gallery – accessible from its two extremis where are located the entrances of the metro and of the bus terminal, is constituted by a structure in shell, that defines a large concourse able to work as hall for exhibition, concerts, cinema and site of the traditional neighbourhood market. In the low levels it is possible to take advantage of small spaces for the refreshment and to watch settings up and expositions of works proposed by young artists. Technical details are the big reflective panel, that from the big window of the restaurant propagates the light inside the building, and the glass pavements that, diffusing the light to the underground floors, create new and suggestive atmospheres, unusual for a palace as a metro station.
